I have had home & contents insurance with Zurich for over 10 years and have out in one small claim some 8 years ago. However,recently after an horrendous storm I had to claim for both home and contents damage due to water ingress. I followed their instructions and got quotes, submitted them and they paid up. Then my neighbour said that a similar problem had happened some 10 years ago with water comming off an adjoining field so I told Zurich thinking they may recoup from a third party. No way. They just refused to insure me further. By the way, the Environment Agency say there is a 0.1% chance of my house flooding...about as low a risk as you could get. Never ever trust Zurich | |||||||||

I use a laptop as my main computer in my house. i dropped & broke my laptop, I phoned Budget insurance not expecting any rral problems but was imediatley told that my laptop was not covered as they class it as a portable device, so i should have taken out an away from home policy even though i was not going to take it away from my house. Surely if I'm using my computer regardless of if its a laptop or desktop one it should be covered by home contents insurance if i have an accident with it in the home?. In August 2009 my car failed to start and as I am unable to afford the repairs I rang Footman James to ask them to temporarily cancel my insurance. They said yes and I went through the procedures. In October I received a letter from them asking me to pay extra amount of money they say I owe them of which I am in no position to pay because I am in financial problems. I conveyed that information to them and I thought they understood. I was also keeping up with my monthly payment until the car breakdown occurred. I successfully completed 1 year insurance with them and I made no claims whatsoever. I renewed my insurance with them, even though I could have gone somewhere cheaper. And I thought they would understand the circumstances I face, but I find them to be very heartless and greedy. When I rang them, I was given lame excuses and threathen with further actions which I find appalling under the circumstances. I feel companies like these give Britain a bad name because of how they treat people.
