Opti-cal Survey Equipment Ltd [Reading]

Opti-cal Survey Equipment Ltd - goods not for UK »28/01/2010Total claims: 1

Opti-cal Survey Equipment Ltd sold me a used total station which I later found out was not meant to be sold in the uk. they got this equipment from an auction somewhere in the uk and was not meant to sell it to me inside the uk. later, when i had problems with the equipment, i was refused speaking to the companies managing director. i have since found 3 other surveyors who have the same problem with the same company. what a sham. they have basically stonewalled me and refuse to deal with the issue or take the unit back and give me my money back. has anyone else had this problem?

Crystal Clear Window Works (CCWW) [Derby]

Window Repair »25/11/2009Total claims: 1

The units had gone on my leaded front lounge window (misting up through condensation), and after seeing an advert in a local newspaper, I arranged with the above company for a technician to come round to my house on 21 July 2009 to give me a quote to repair it. The quote was £70. This treatment says it removes moisture from pane windows. The technician came a week later to do the treatment. I'd already got a few white streaks on both panes due to the condensation over the months before and the technician said (as he was carrying the work out) he may or may not be able to get rid of these marks. He didn't say that the treatment may/would leave more white streaks on the glass. I was told there was a drying out period of 3 months, and I would have to wait until then to see the outcome. The technician said that if after 3 months the job isn't satisfactory, to get in touch with CCWW and they will send someone round to repeat the treatment. The technician also explained (this is also in the conditons of sale on the order form, which I received after I'd paid the money) that if the procedure isn't successful after the twelve week period, I can have the units replaced at the price quoted in the price to replace box, less the amount paid for the repair. So for replacement windows (normally £140), it would cost me another £70. On the order form it also said: Alternatively, the dealership may choose to refund the amount paid for the repair. Final decision is at the descretion of the dealership. I paid the technician £70 in cash and he gave me an order form for the work carried out. After 3 months and after the windows presumably had dryed out, I could see that it had left white streaks all over the one window pane. After a few phone calls and people not getting back to me, I eventually spoke to someone called Jerry who arranged a technician to come out on Wednesday 11 November between 2-4pm. The technician never came and I immediately got on the phone and spoke to 'Jerry' who in an abrupt manner asked me why I was upset! He said that a technician had been but I wasn't in! I argued that I had been in and that I didn't buy his story. He said that he didn't buy my story and more or less called me a liar! He told me that he would have to arrange for another technician when they're next in the area. And that he would phone me the following week. That was last week and I've had no phone call.

Although the condensation in my window seems to have gone, as I said, I'm left with these awful white streaks all over the one pane. It says in the 'conditons of sale' on the order form that streaking or mineral deposits can not always be removed, but they never informed me that there's a possibility the treatment could result in developing more white streaks! The technician and a man called Peter Whitbread from the company office in Burton, told me that if I wasn't happy with the outcome of the treatment after 3 months, I could always have the windows replaced as an alternative. But unfortunately, no one gets back to me when I've phoned, so they're not bothered because they know they've bogged the job up and they've got my £70! Also, the order form and quote don't seem to match up. Conditions of sale are not on the bottom of the quote, only on the order form after a person has paid for the job. What's upset me more than anything is the way I've been treated. The customer care after service is disgusting! The way I was spoken to by that Jerry bloke was appalling. My misfortune is that I picked a cowboy company. The main office is in Burton-On-Trent, but they have dealerships around the country where the technicians come out to do the work. Whichever is in a person's area. There website address is: www.crystalclearwindow.co.uk

Sorry it goes on a bit, but I needed to get down the facts.

Thank you.
